So how was Vail?
« on: October 13, 2013, 08:30:13 PM »
I bought the permit, but always try to at least spend the 1st weekend on the eastside looking for a big muley.............well that didn't go as planned so Vail is option #2.
Curious if it was a zoo, less crowded or??
Anyone go in this weekend?

Not many people out there at all.  Kind of nice reading the threads about pumpkins and   not having to experience it.

It was awful!

There was State patrol, fish and game and helicopter gunships taking out hunters that weren't displaying their pass correctly.

Road hunters everywhere and the biggest deer taken was a spike.

Well, I don't believe the spike being the biggest, I know of one 2 point......the rest is believable though :)

Alright, lowest scoring. Our scoring system is similar to golf.

Lots of road hunters but thanks for pre scouting my wife bagged a 2 pt on the first hour after day light. We knew where we wanted to be at day light and it payed off. We've never experienced vail before untill this year and still people wont get out of there trucks except to look over landings with their hands in there pockets. When driving out at noon to go hang the deer seen a few rigs just drive by deer and not even see them (its kinda funny) it just seemed like they just wanted to keep in front of me when i wasnt even hunting. But most of the time up there we maybe seen 2 rigs a day we seen 15 by 8am. But im glad to seen enforcement out and about. We got checked by an wdfw officer at noon and we were the only deer checked. But i know during archery there were guys out there not playing by the rules, by leaving the gate unlocked so there buddies to come in and what not :bdid: . Oh if your in there drinking beer pack it out im tired of picking up your cans :bash: . Its a privilege that wyco dose what they do for us they could just say no more hunt what so ever.

I did not see a soul in the spot I spent my mornings.  Lots of guys driving the main lines though, however, noticeably fewer than in the past.  I did not see any of this enforcement everybody keeps talking about, just the gentlemen working the gate in the morning.  Saw plenty of deer running around Saturday, passed on three spikes and a forkie.
Hunting and Fishing are not matters of life or death... THEY ARE WAY MORE IMPORTANT!!!
