Few and far between. You're not going to find the answer on the internet.

 :chuckle: 10's of thousands of acres. Very few elk. Get way back in there behind the gates and look for sign.

@CamoDup
  Well this is hunting forum where people share info and pics and stories so i thought it would be a darn good place to start. Some folks might be in that area over modern or early archery and have spotted a few here and there. Thats the luxury of having internet to communicate with people.

You are right leedh31, this is a hunting forum and most guys are real nice people, however good elk spots in this state that the masses don't already know about are few and far between. I for one would never divulge my elk hunting places on a public forum. My own family is blindfolded, and driven in circles, and walked miles out of the way before I put them in one of my spots. That way they can never find it on their own! :chuckle:

Why don't you start off telling us something about yourself instead of asking for info right off the bat? :dunno:

Reality check! I hunted it hard for a week 2 years ago, started hiking hours before light most days to get as far back as I could up towards the divide. We hunted from Grayback all the way to Satus. Didn't see one elk. We did find sign in several areas, but those elk are constantly on the move and there are very few of them. Good luck and I hope you shoot a monster, there are some in there.

unless is snowing they will be hard to find if they aren't pushed down the pass. 3 or 4 years ago I got into a small herd while deer hunting, same trip my buddy found a small 5 point elk shed, but i haven't been back up there since.

Deer hunting an area is a great opportunity to scout for another specie you plan to hunt. I've hunted it alot in the past and have only bumped a few. Late season with snow on the ground is a huge help. I'll be in that same area this weekend, best of luck to ya!

Got any bigger pics of that buck in your profile.  Looks nice.   Is that a goldendale buck?  Whereabouts did you get him?

I use to hunt Goldendale area a lot. Have friends that still hunt it extensively. We've seen a good number of them on trail cameras, but other than during spring turkey none of us have actually seen the elusive Goldendale elk in person.  A guy that goes out and bags one East of W.Klickitat boundary during the season has either done some fine homework or got dang lucky IMO.  Probably a little of both ;)

Good luck to you leedh31.  Would like to see that picture of your Golden'elk when you get it!

BTW - Welcome to the site.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."
