Thank you all for the nice words. Just dropped him off at the taxidermist. I am very humbled by this buck. I have been deer hunting for over 20 years and never shot anything but small blacktail and barely legal mule deer. Meat was always the #1 priority. I am not going to post the score the taxidermist gave me, or any measurements for two reasons: 1, I am very humbled, and 2, I don't want it to become a pissing contest. I was in the right place at the right time, and I am very thankful for the opportunity, and that I was able to share the hunt with my son. He has been hunting with me since he was 3, but this is the first year he could really hike and get far off the roads. Opening day we had a nice 3 point shot out from under us as I was laying down to take a shot on a skylined 3 point. I never saw the other hunter, and he never saw me and my boy. My son still thought it was pretty neat, and we went and talked to the gentleman that shot it, and offered our help. He declined due to having some help on the way, so we hunted the rest of the day and saw lots of does. The next morning he was tired so we didn't leave before light, I let him sleep and formulated a plan to go up the old road where I shot this guy. It was getting light, and I have always seen deer where he was at, but never any bucks, so it was a huge surprise to see him standing in there. Definitely the biggest buck I have ever shot, and probably will ever shoot. Thanks for reading. Now its time to cut him up and get him in the freezer!
