Colville/rice area
« on: October 22, 2013, 11:39:20 AM »
Anyone having a hard time this year with seeing any nice bucks outside colville ? This year has been rough on my property with a bunch of smaller bucks .. Most were legal but smaller then what I'm looking for.. I'm really hoping the rut is on hard this year but in the last 2 years I feel that we've missed the rut all together.. I would like I say it's going to be perfect this year with the temps already around freezing in the morning but who knows I guess..

Saw a dandy buck last year after dark but haven't been lucky enough to see him since :( just hoping he's still around!!!

Good luck to all

We've noticed the same on our piece south east of you, but also been like that for the past 3 years.  A good number of legal bucks, but all small with one wall hanger seen once a year for a single picture.  Where we are we will continue to see low rut activity until the state allows us to regulate the doe population a little better.  There are just to many does around us for the bucks to actively chase and fight for a piece of tail.  If a buck has one doe tied up, the challenging buck just needs to turn to his left and pick one of the other 9 does to hump.
