Saw this one coming from about 800yds, when it broke over the bench I was on he was about 75 still in a dead run, he came to about twelve feet from me & stopped, crosshairs between eyes, "CLICK" @#%$!! All he did is cauck his head to the side & I think I heard him laugh and call me a dumba$$! When I pulled the chargeing handle back he made it about 3 steps before I realized what to do in this situation. Funnest stand all year.

Can't tell you how many times I've hunted all day with an empty chamber in my AR.  Now I got in the habit of noting which side of the magazine the first round is, and if there is still a round on the same side after I chamber a round, I know the bolt didn't pick up the first round and chamber it.  Never had that problem with my 20 LBC...  :dunno:

Now that was as good as it gets for a wetside coyote hunt ...I woke up this morning thinking I best get out a try to bag up a couple more but what was about to happen was more than I anticipated .. :o  I head to my 1st set up at the crack of light ..I get hunkered in under some jack firs and start calling ...about 1 minute into it I catch a flash out of the corner of my eye ...here he comes on a dead run straight at me ...I am having trouble finding him in the scope and when I lifted my head to find him again he was 5 steps ...he turns inside out and I put one over his head  :bash: :bash: I should know better not having a shotgun because everytime I I say that the same thing happens to me everytime  :dunno: So off to spot number 2 ...I hike in about a 1mile toward the river where I have permission to kill everything  :chuckle:  I get set up where I can 150 yrds in all directions ...I start to call and within 3 minutes here comes this female on a dead run toward me ...I left her run within 80 yrds and I bark and she stops ...POOOOW FLOP ...Finally redeemed myself  :)  So I get a picture or two for the team and think what to do next  :dunno:   END OF PART # 1  :chuckle: :chuckle:

Now for PART # 2 !!!   So this is a big area I am hunting So I decided I would walk about a mile along the river and try again ...these are bush dogs and I know there are many of them and you can call in more than one on any particular day ...I found a fallen tree with a huge root wad and put my back against it ...I start calling and throwing in a howl here and there ..this goes on for about minutes ...I never wait much past 10 minutes ..most coyotes I kill are there within 5 minutes or they are usually not coming ...I continue to call and now it has been over 7 minutes ...I slowly stand up and slowly look behind me when I see eye balls looking at me threw the grass  :yike: :bdid:  He is about 10yrds sitting there stirring at me ...I can not believe he is not taking off ...after finding a little hole to put a bullet threw I layed it on his neck in the off hand position and squeezed ....Pooooow Flop ....#2 down  :IBCOOL:  I should have 9 pts today  :dunno: :bash: :bash: :bash:  THAT WAS A GOOD DAY HUNTING BRUSH DOGS !!

I BLAH BLAH BLAH a little more before bed  :chuckle:  I had this call in my gun cabinet for years and never tried it ...VERY BAD IDEA ! I know we all own a lot of calls when it comes to predator hunting but this little gem is working great ...I seen them at Walmart a couple weeks ago and now I know how it works I will be buying all of them before the week ends ...  If you do not have one I sure would getcha one ...it should have been 3 for 3 today but my dead eye was off on one  :bdid: :chuckle: plus I called in others with it and some died and some ran off ... I will be out again in the morning ..that was to much fun

2 different land owners lost calves in the past 2 days was able to help the one out with most of his problem. Called the first one at 50 yds bang dead. Middle aged healthy male.  Move 1/4 mile away started calling not even five minutes old female pokes her head out to investigate bang pup distress loaded another bullet and thought oh crap she's not dead pulled up and her pup was trying to dig out the bullet for her bang. Young female.
+3 CBC.  Headed to the other land owners tomorrow!
