high winds
« on: October 28, 2013, 07:03:55 PM »
My buddy who is already up at camp called me last night and said it was windy as hell up there 30-40 mph with 60 mph gusts. he said there were trees coming down all over. I head up early thursday morning and am wondering if this is gonna scatter the elk real bad or what?

i have never killed one so my elk experience is low. any help would be great. i am planning to watch over terrain (cuts, creeks, small open areas) from higher ground if possible and comfortable with shots 800 yards or less.

Get off the road and down in the holes. You will kill one. Or at least have a better chance.
If you aint hunting, you aint livin'

Yeah it was blowing like crazy yesterday evening and all day today! I saw and heard a few trees drop around me. Gotta be extremely careful when it gets like that. Best advice i can give is don't get discouraged and keep at it! Good luck!
