Pretty cool.  Always wanted one of those...

What a beautiful hide. For those of you that have not had the pleasure of seeing and feeling a freashly tanned bison hide, I can tell you that they are tremendous. Not only the shear size of the hide but the feel of bison hair after it it tanned is very unique. The hair is very soft and not (wooly) at all.
That is a BEAUTIFUL hide @rcher!!!
The place where I had my bison butchered in Saschewan had a pile of whole bison hides setting outside and I asked the guy what they were going to do with them. He said nothing. That the were going to the dump. That kind of surprised me. He then told me he would sell me all I wanted for $100 a piece. I kicked myself in the tail many times over since then for not buying a couple from him.
Nothing like a "Buffalo Robe" @rcher!!! You will really enjoy that monster hide of yours. How old was the bull?
They are a bit $$$ per sq foot to get tanned, but well worth it.

Thanks for posting pics Michelle. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person. That IS a big booger. I really didn't think he was that much bigger than the big 1300lb. cow I had tanned in 2006. She was 43 feet. That's probably the last buff hide for a while.

He was a 6 year old, end of Nov, MT bull and out of curiosity I unofficially scored him at 106 B&C.

Anyone ever wonder how big a Bison hide really is?

Was going through some old posts looking for one I had made awhile back and ran across this one.  You could carpet a small room with one.
