Anyone have any luck in this unit this year? Thinking about hitting the area at the beginning of late season. I don't really know the other unit areas Very well.

Great unit with lots of deer. If you're not picky, you'll find a buck.

check out a LC Sportsman's map for GMU 124.  there is a pretty big chunck of state land that is on the North Side of Mt. Spokane State Park.  And it gives you some road names that you can use to find the way there.  We always head there for the last weekend if we have not shot anything by then as it is almost guaranteed (at least for us it is).

I'll be heading up there tonight for my gf to try for a buck. We'll be near Ford on some private ground. Not sure what to expect. I've never hunter up there.

I was up there Saturday and Sunday. Saw one deer. A 3x4 with eyegaurds that I stepped on. Never jumped a buck in such short of weeds. Of course my gf with the tag was way up ahead of me headed for the truck. He stopped broad side 80 yards from me.  :bash:

I have spent 2 days in 124 and haven't seen a buck. I heard 1 but never saw him.

My fiancée shot her first buck/deer in 124 on public ground Saturday. It was the only deer we seen and he was all alone.

I absolutely love that rifle, she keeps trying to take it from. 243 is my favorite deer caliber. Got a nice muley with it a couple years back 200 yds dropped it in its tracks. Shoots flat and accurate, glad to see there are other BLR lovers out there.

Never seen a single turkey up there. Shot 2 grouse...TOTAL. It's seems to be mainly a deer/moose (if you're lucky to draw a permit) hunting area!

There was lots of activity in 124 through the mt Spokane entrance. If I had drawn a moose tag kids have been done my first day of hunting, and my second lol i saw amazing looking bucks, but only on state property lol

It depends on what IEP land you are on. There are several tracts around Newman Lake. I haven't seen many turkeys at Thompson Creek, but I haven't been up there for several years either. There is property on Foothills and Campbell that both hold very good populations of turkeys. Unfortunately they all move lower to private land this time of year. Spring turkey is great up there. If you do your homework and get off the roads you will score a bird.
