Peola Quality tag
« on: November 02, 2013, 09:16:28 PM »
Jackalope asked how my friend did with the Peola rifle tag.   He did his scouting and took the bull wanted on the evening of the second day.  A close shot (rifle) at 30 yards then winched with a 4 wheeler to the field and loaded whole in a pickup.  He did his homework and backed out when things were not right.  He moved here form Alaska about 4 years ago.

I have not seen him,  but a solid 6.   THe bull to see is the muzzy Peola Bull.  I'm surprized he has not been discovered here already.  Some here have a few nice pictures of the muzzy bull.

Justin D. showed me pictures of the muzzy bull when I was in your neighborhood a couple weeks ago that was an amazing animal.  I haven't seen the pics of the rifle bull taken looking foreword to it.

Peola is damn tough unit to hunt, you are literally gambling years of your hard earned points on the chance that you will be able to get permission. that unit is literally 100% private land.

Besides their are no Elk in the Blues.

He put his time in for sure he's a great guy I am glad he finally got a good one down.  I will not share the pics since I don't have his permission to do so maybe one of you local boys can get one up here with his blessing.

Justin came by. Last night with the bull he shot.  Not the big guy he had scouted for weeks. The big guy always seemed to. Be a day ahead of the hunter.   The bull he tagged is a nice bull 6x7 just a bit smaller than the scouted bull.  He has a great hunting group and all participated in the recovery.

I just had the cell pic Dave did he tell you what it scored?  The picture I got wasn't close up, but I figured around 350.  I know he had one he was after I just assumed it was the one.

JD had a bull in mind and it was at one end of the canyon or the other!! He  seemed to be at the wrong end when the bull came out! It's hunting and he knew it! Wish I could get him on the phone so I could hear the way it ended  :bash:  :bash:
