Nice picture.

I'd be proud of that elk too.

Sweet looking rifle......what rifle are you shooting and what bullet?

Again, congratulations.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

"Nice Elk as any are...I'll be the jerk.  Dude you are shooting a cow.  Have a bud who shot a 389 high fence, and he gets less praise then then the guy shooting a spike on public land.  Good on ya, but it is what is is.  The guys who are mentioning all " quality meat" really wanted to say what I just said.  Nothing against your elk as any bull is good bull"

not cool,  Sounds like a herd that roams around and gets hunted elsewhere or there would be more than 2 bulls in there and he would not have to shoot from 300 yards.

Congrats on your bull and on getting permission to hunt private property.

Thats a great elk. It doenst sound to me like you pushed any easy button. Taking years to get permision to hunt is more effort than many people do. And I'm guessing you scouted and knew the field was a good place to be.

Like driving into a clearcut and shooting an elk is any different. Its just a different crop in a bigger field.

Good job on the harvest.

A high fence elk is completely different from this one; this is the same as shooting one in a clearcut; the meat just stays cleaner.  I'm just glad to see a local harbor boy get him in the field rather than some weekend woodsman from King County.

Nice bull!!! I see nothing wrong with a guy doing his homework. Getting permission to hunt on privet property. And closing the deal with a nice bull. It's way more than most people do. There is still a bit of luck in every successful hunt. They are elk. As unpredictable as any animal you can hunt. Just when you think you have them figured out, they fool you. If it were easy, everyone would do it. That was nothing like shooting a cow in a field. Great job on a nice bull!!!!

Thanks to everyone for your comments and checking out my bull. I debated on getting him mounted, and decided that the money was needed elsewhere. I did boil it out and am going to come up with something cool for display. Will post pics later thanks again MarkTS
