my pup's first duck!
« on: November 04, 2013, 07:16:05 PM »
Well my 11 month old pup and I got our first duck on our first ever attempt at waterfowl Sunday morning! I know it was only one duck But it is our first and we were hunting public land by fishtrap and only had two birds come within range of the pond we were hunting all morning. My pup sat with me hidden in the cat tails for 3 and half hours healed at my side before we got  a chance to knock those birds down! I have trained hard with him up to this point and he has his Nahra started retriever title and a couple of akc  junior hunt test passes but I have to admit I was a lot more excited watching him retrieve this wild duck then I have been on any test! Man I was proud of the the little guy! We can't wait to try it again next weekend!!

Good Job, Its a good felling knowing all that hard work paid off. Once you spend enough time out in the blind you will learn bringing home one duck sometimes is a good day.

Nice work! I know how it feels. I'm going into my 3rd season with my dog and I still get proud papa syndrome watching her retrieve. Its one of the most gratifying things ever.

Yep good times.
I am out with my young 14 month. It's great.

People just do not understand unless they have done it, how attached dog and hunter become.
I wish I had done it sooner in life.

Hunt on.
