Help w/ SD card issue I've never seen before?
« on: October 27, 2013, 07:52:49 PM »
Never seen this before, wondering if any body has seen this and fixed it?  Or not?  Pulled a card today that had been soaking since mid July.  I get in the computer and it shows 1126 photo icons but only shows an actual photo for the first 426.  Tried opening the card in few diff programs and all the same, everything after the 426th pic says "can't open this file" and the 426the pic is half pic half grey screen?  Did camera take a dump?  Gonna set it up in yard tomorrow w/ diff SD card and do a function check.  Are the rest of the pics recoverable?  Any input greatly appreciated!

happened to me a couple times when i tried to view pics on my digi cam, but then when i take the sd card home and put it in my computer works fine.  did you only try the card out in one device?

Sometimes pics get corrupted when the camera has enough battery to take the pic, but not enough battery to write the pic to the card.

Sometimes cards get corrupt when viewing in a digital camera then put in a tcam without formatting.

Also the card can just go bad...I have had that happen before too.

 :yeah:

Same issue I've had in the past.  Low battery won't allow the cam to record the photo correctly.

Thank you for the advice, no luck w recovering the last 700 plus pics.  Had this guy in over 60 pics from the 426 I could view.  Good thing I went to idaho instead of this WA spot........ :bash:

Why couldn't you recover the other 700?

Billythekidrock:  not sure what happened exactly but when I put SD card in computer and opened it said I had 1125 pics but when you click through them after the 425th pic it would read "cannot open file".

For one reason or another (like mentioned) those pictures are all corrupt. Might try to take it to a store with a SD card reader for photos or maybe a Best Buy and see if the geeks cant get it to open.
