3.75" 44 mag Blackhawk
« on: November 09, 2013, 07:58:28 PM »
I picked this up today as a donor gun for my big bore revolver build. I thought that this would be fun to play around with for a little while. Got it for about $350 after cashing in some Cabelas points. :IBCOOL:

I dug out some 310gr handloads from my last 44 mag to try it out.

You got yourself and real beauty there! I'd love to add a single action revolver to my collection. Have fun with that one...looks like you scored on the price as well.

Ruger what's not to like   ;)
Hey! I'm not a complete idiot I have parts missing. Though sometimes I wonder.

When will i learn to stop shooting my donor guns! :bash:

I took the 44 out today to run a few loads through it and see how it handles. I'm not sure that I want to chop it up now! I could really get used to such a short, handy little revolver. Right now I'm getting groups in the 2.5" range at 25 yards with my odds and ends ammo. With a little load work this gun could shoot pretty well.

Now I may need to find a different gun to build my big bore off of. :bash:

Love those! That ones really sweet. I want to add to to my collection. I have the "Alaskan" already, but want something I could legally shoot a deer with.

What were you going to turn that one into?

The idea was to end up with either a 475 Linebaugh or a 500 linebaugh. Now I'm not so sure. For the cost of having this gun converted, I can just buy a used Freedom Arms or a new Precision Center BFR. Then I can keep the 44 as a "back up" gun. :chuckle: This little 44 would make a great tail gun in the right holster.
