Decoy Bag

What is a good decoy bag to carry in as many decoys as possible.  Some places I go I have to hike a long ways in.  I tried out a texas rig system this year and the decoys bang against each other the whole way.  What a mess.  I have been happy with they way they move around in the water at least on the Texas anchor lines.

I am thinking maybe two 12 decoy slotted bags so they don't rattle against each other and stay nicer longer.  I would also carry a backpack for a mojo and other essentials.

Rogers sporting goods has large slotted bags. I use the one with the black closure on top. I believe it is a full body bag, runs about 35 bucks. I hold 2 floating decoys per slot, and put my teal and buffies on top. In one bag I can carry over 30 deeks. The nice thing about these bags is they have a short shoulder strap that stays on really well.

Go with Goldeneye on this one...the Splash bag is the best I've found, second only to strapping a huge, floppy bag onto a meat frame.  The Splash bags have a sleeve for your gun, too, and you can use the motion decoy sack for lunch, thermos, etc.

If you are public land hunting a good decoy bag makes the trip much more enjoyable. I like the one that Goldeneye pointed out. It always seems to me I'm trying to carry more stuff in/out than i should.  IMO the important parts to a good decoy bag are padded should and hip straps that you can cinch down. Pack weight is suppost to be carried on your hips not your shoulders.

I like my pack but if i needed another one i would buy one with a gun holder. don't skim on your bag it will make those "un accessible spots" easier to hunt.

I have heard other guys talk about the Rogers ones also.  I may go the backpack route but like the idea of a slotted bag to keep the nice decoys from rubbing each other.

Is it one of the goose decoy bags that I should be looking for huntrspud or do they make a duck specific bag?  Are these Avery ones with the black top closure the ones you were talking about?

Thanks guys... My decoy bag has had a few rips and is more zip tie then fabric at this point.  Time for a new one.  I didn't realize they made slotted bags that could cary more then a dozen.

I will also throw in my vote for the splash decoy bag. I've had two for years and they're one of the best waterfowl investments I've made.  Being able to put your gun, spinning wing and your days kill on the straps and still be hands free is priceless.

Yet another vote for the splash bag. It's worth every penny to me! I'm rather short, and this bag doesn't hang super low and bang into the backs of my thighs when I walk. Between that and the hip belt I'm not killing my back when I wear it!

I've been using the Rig em Right DP3. Its comfy on hikes.. and drains well on the hike back. Good straps and the top opens wide. No slots.. a single divider.

The gun sleeve on the Splash is a nice feature though.

I once thought that a good bag was too expensive... Unfortuanly i had several spots that were long hikes in and out. Buy a nice one and use it, you'll wonder why you didin't buy a good one sooner.

I also look at the decoys I am packing.  If they are spendy I will use the slotted bag.  now I have three doz duck decoys which I have not used in about 5 years in individual slots.  They are the high end field decoys.  I would never put them in a bag mixed with others. 

But I do have a bag full of widgon decoys a crow decoys that are mixed up.  Those decoys are find rubbing together.
