As far as seeing deer in kahlotus: i have hunted it for 20 years, mainly public land with some prjvate. Spot and stalk is the way to go. Too many people park their rigs on the highest hill they can find and start walking the ridges. These deer can see you coming for a mile. Lots of glassing and if you can get a stiff wind the hunting can get awesome. Use the noise and the deers tendancies to get close. When the wind is roaring the deer out there find small draws to bed down in. These draws usually are coming aoff of a large ridge running for a mile sometimes. If you dont like  spot and stalk hunting, use these times to walk just below the ridges and sneak up on these small draws. The wind, especially a heavy one, is your best friend out there. Use it to your advantage. No eye doctors needed, just good binos and nasty weather. Good luck.
