My wifes late season b tail

Pretty crazy day, but she did really well for what opportunity we had at this buck. we were going up a steep cut, i mean steep, and she was about 20 yards to the right of me, we stopped for a min to catch our breaths, well when we stopped for a minut to check out towards the top and what not and i had a rattle rack dangling from my neck and when i turned to look up they kind of rattled into one another... snap of a finger a buck on top happened to do the wrong thing... poked his head over and his neck and head stuck out like a sore thumb....my wife got the instant jello legs haha but she pulled thru fast and got the rifle up and he didnt even move one bit ( i think he thought sense we were walking apart then the rack i had around my neck made a loud and right enough rattle sound that he thought there was a little scuffle going on bellow him). Well for my quick guessing i told her its now or never its strait up hill about 120 or so yards and hes giving you enough of the neck for a kill shot and obviously the head, she threw her scope point blank on him...no more then me saying "miss you miss, you hiii"...BAAAMMMMMMMM...she shoots.. "you hit you hit him we search till we find him dead hopefully"...well in the midle of me saying that she made the shot and he dropped like a sack of potatoes i was watching through my binos to see if he drops goes left,right...whatever. 2nd to last day he just stood there waiting for it it seemed like.... so we basically sprint/crawl up this hill that in our minds seemed like climbing mt rainier haha. we knew he was a good buck his rack was out past his ears and everything. so we get up to the top of the ridge and i kept going higher incase he was b-lining back into the pocket of the cut which would have been a hail mary of a shot, so i got to the top and she was about 5 yards away and 30 feet bellow me and she said... I SEE HIM... i started looking everywhere for movement in the distance, well he was about 15 feet infront of her on his back feet strait up (i couldnt see what he was where he was she was bellow me but such a steep grade of a clear cut and a few small alders inbetween him and i, but she had him in her scope again incase he kicked out of it and went into hyper sprint lol. well about 2 mins of that i hear him crashing, he basically was twitching out dead and rolled himself yet even lower into a spot where i could see him, he was dead just kicking it out a minute. so i slid down to her and we both were on top her with her rifle on him still me with the binos on him, after a 30 second or soo pause he was lifeless... confirmed my wife just killed her first bigger black tail. SOOOOO we get down to him etc. where he last rolled to his head was pinched in a old burnt out stump so we could only see the right side of his rack....he was HUGE bodied and a decent 3pt. i pryed his head out as she watched in excitement...well his left side antler was gone we looked around a bit but nothing to be seen.... she shot him strait thru the jaw and out the antler base
ohwell tho meat in the freezer right! well after a few phone calls and what not my best buddy/ our roomate (Notellumcreek) i got a hold of on the phone and he just soo happened to be in the area thank god cus this was a heavy sucker especially for how steep the ground was did not make it any easier. after about 20 mins him and his ol lady made it there and got up there and him and i positioned the deer so my wife could get to work on him with our guidance, in which she smiled ear to ear the whole time (only other time ive seen her more happy was day i proposed and the day we got married LOL) ok back to the story so after we got it all said and done got it down to the rd about 130-140 yds bellow us and it was easy soo steep it took about 4 good pushes and he did the rest. Got it down got it to our area to hang it and skin it and what not, amazing time...happy wife happy life right? SOOOOO me being determined and a nice long night loss of sleep we got up sunday and called her step dad who was in the middle of training a shed dog and what not we told him we know where the antler is and obviously everything in those clear cuts is about the same color as the antler... soo we all made our maiden voyage back up this steep cut yet again, adrenaline still rushing from saturday night haha. after about a hr spent driving and looking for about 45 mins... BINGO all my years of Wheres Waldo books paid off! lol found the antler just bellow where he initially first was on his back, which the ground there basically was a solid rock, could tell from the base of the antler that it snapped off and not from the shot which probably helped it a little, but where he landed on his back was on a small flat in between 2 basically strait down drops. so it kicked the antler down the back side of the cut about 10 yards, this deer had a eagles nest up there pretty much strait down both sides down this finger ridge/cut that had his bed right on top. Well all the excitement from the day before getting the deer and seeing her so crazy happy even with half a rack on his head to us getting back up with her step dad and dog and finding the other half the next day... just a VERY VERY VERY blessed deer season we had, im still kind of lost on words for this animal! shes still beyond happy too lol
few pics, some of her and her deer, one of us where he made his final descent with his head into the stump to the left of us standing behind him in pic, one of her smiling and getting dirty, one of my halloween 2x2 etc.
Hope everyone had a awesome season!
bed time finally lol

That is a great deer! Congrats to your wife and how nice to have a spouse that enjoys your passion also. I like this even more since I met you and Notellumcreek during the spring bear hunt.

Cool story and nice bucks, you two. And, what everyone else is thinking: she's darned cute, too.
