Need to kill this yote
« on: November 24, 2013, 03:21:51 PM »
I need to kill this yote. It's hasseling my deer! I have a ar but I'm not as good of a shot with it on account it has a close quarters optic. How do you feel about the 130gr tsx with my .308? The tsx would likely not mushroom much at all on a yote? I do want to keep the fur, it looks like a great hide.

Also, I have been trying to use my old fox pro the rabbit distress is an 8 sec loop. So far a coyote has never come in to it. Should I retire it? I really don't want to educate it.

Use the foxpro sound baby cottantail distress. It works very well for me.

it you want him dead the round doesn't really matter. As far as the sound, are there rabbits in the area? I try to base my calls off animals I know frequent the area I am calling.  if so get some rabbit urine and spray it around, back off and call. watch your wind and for it to circle downwind on you  good luck

If you want the hide then use a .222, .223, .204. Or 22-250. Use the wind and call. If he's messing with the deer then a fawn distress call might do the trick. Good luck and if you get him don't forget to post pics!

Eeeeenteresting! I tried a rabbit and got nothing, but I'll give kitten a whirl. I got a bunch more pics of the yote for the bait I put out. He really needs to die still. I also tried to spotlight with a white light I'm going to take it back and try red light.

Also, I've dialed in my AR so the hide won't be ruined.

You are on the westside. Westside yotes are different then eastside yotes because of the timber. When calling, the trees will hold in alot of the sound. Make sure to call crosswind, and hopefully you will see him circle downwind through the timber. With timber areas, they know where the game stay and eat, so call in open spots or grassy places if you want to do distress calls. Just my :twocents:

Call From your tree stand. Better view and less of a sent problem.  :twocents:

I called from an open field facing into the timber. I'll be going back out over the holidays to try and get 'em. I am thinking of dumping some cow guts out there and waiting? Maybe shoot some squirrels and hang em up and call over that?

I dont have a stand, so it will be calling from ground cover.
