If you like the 6.8 SPC, you'll like the 6mmX6.8 SPC even better.  I have both, and I'm about ready to put my 6.8 SPC up for sale.  But I have so much ammo and bullets for it!  :chuckle:

The 6mm 6.8SPC barrel is from Black Hole Weaponry.  They've moved from Moses Lake, WA to Oregon since I ordered my barrel, I'm told.  Same bolt and mags as the 6.8 SPC, so conversion is a snap.  They even make ammo for it, but it's a buck a round, so I make my own....

OLY  :puke:

I am trying not to be to bad with the 30-378 build going on. Yet I found a place that I should have not found :chuckle: I am sure you might have seen them but http://www.ar-10-rifles.com/index.php Just in case :chuckle: I feel a 300 or 325 wsm in the near future. They even do a 450 marlin!

NW-GSP The site above has a cool page that shows you your choices in the ar-15 lineup. http://www.ar15-accuracy.com/

NW-GSP,

Be forewarned! This multi caliber AR game is a sickness, once you jump there is no support group other than the enabler crowd. You will be surfing the net or looking at firearms magazine or watching one of the Outdoor channels. Before you know it your on the computer or phone with plastic in your hand and stuff just starts showing up on the door step. Stuff you even forgot you ordered because last week was well, last week and your already off and running on the latest and greatest AR chambering.

It is useless to talk yourself into a new AR chambering with the thought process of you will use the same lower. NO! NO! NO! I guarantee more lowers will come along with piles of cool furniture to dress them up in.

It never ends!

I have seen posts from guys that have Olys and are happy with them.  Oly had some quality issues a while back, but I think they are solved now.  Once you get a bad name, it's really hard to live it down!

Seeing that OLY is 8-10 plus months out on a upper order. I can see that as a major deterrent.

Yeah, that would be bad.  I waited 8 months for my 6mmx6.8 SPC barrel, but I think it was the move that held it up so long.  Finally I sent an Email saying that 8 months for a barrel was getting ridiculous, and a week later I had the barrel.  I ordered the barrel from Moses Lake, but it came from Oregon.  The workmanship was better than on my .20 LBC barrel, too.  I didn't have to run a thread chaser on the muzzle threads to put the brake/flash hider on.  Good thing it wasn't a "need it now" build!  :chuckle:

you can avoid all this.. "ar-15 cartridge change out" game.. by just going to a .308.. it solves the whole problem.. and rifles like the smith M&p10 that are lighter than the old ar-10's helps with the weight issuee. Just saying that if a general purpose hunting rifle is the question- my answer has always been .308...

Got the .308 (Sig 716) covered. I just like to shoot different chamberings on the lighter AR15.

Most of us build odd-ball guns because we  LIKE them.  Not because we NEED them.  :chuckle:  If you NEED a gun, buy an off-the-shelf gun.  It will cost you more to build one from parts.  You can get a nice Rock River AR for less than you can build one for!

Hahaha , I can already feel the fever coming over me. I'm already thinking that no matter what caliber I go with this one I will end up building another one. It doesn't help when my good friend has his FFL and is going to be getting his class 3 license

Please share your thoughts about the 716.

I have a PTR 91 (308, 18" brl) that will shoot ~2 moa, but I'm wishing for sub moa accuracy. How bad do I need a 716?
