If strictly a coyote gun I would get a standard barrel SPS with a 24" barrel. Why lug the extra weight around going between stands. You will not be taking that many shot at coyotes to heat up the barrel. I have the SPS Varmint with the 26" barrel and I use it for Target and ground squirrel shooting. I will only take it coyote hunting if planning on staying in one spot and not traveling between coyote stands.
Just picked this up tonight, bought the scope saturday, vortex viper 4-16x44. Cant wait to get to the range!
I have a Remington 700 VTR in 22-250 with a Coyote Special 4-14 scope on it. (The one with the green stock and triangular barrel.) Nice gun, but since I got my 20 Grendel, I never use it, so it's on consignment at a local gun shop. I'd keep it, but at my age, I just have too much stuff!
