North Dakota 6x5 Mulie
« on: December 08, 2013, 08:24:06 PM »
Well, I think I have thawed out just enough to write this! Headed out Saturday morning 12/7/13 in-24 temps and was in no hurry to leave the warmth of my truck. Did a lot of glassing from the seat with the heater blasting. Saw lots of does on all 3 of the properties I can hunt. Saw only 1 small buck, so decided to hit the last piece i hadnt checked. I stopped at the gate to open it, stepped out of the truck and 70 yds away stood a nice shooter! Jumped in truck and sped up the hill and out of sight. I geared up as fast as I could and began searching for the buck. I crept to the top of the hill, and there were 3 shooters at 45 yrds. Glassed the bigger one and saw a sticker on his left rack! I nocked an arrow, stood and let her rip! I saw the arrow hit high, and he dropped in his tracks! SPINE SHOT! I have seen that kind of hit only a couple times on tv shows, so I  let him have about 10 minutes, and then the work began! This was the coldest hunt I have ever had, and it took several warm ups before I could load him in the truck! Dont have very good pics due to cold, selfies aint easy at-20 ! When I got home and the family was so happy, and my wife grabbed a few more pics for me also.

Thanks guys !  Biggest mulie thus far out here.  Never did see the big 8x5 from last year that was on one of the ranches. I think someone snipped him.

Congrats!  I was over there a couple years ago in ND for a mule deer hunt.  Temps were about the same but we didn't have the luck.  Got very close a couple of times but couldn't quite close the deal.

Nice Buck! What part of N.E. ND are you hunting? that's where we're from.
