12 Gauge reloading
« on: December 12, 2013, 01:17:02 AM »
Anyone reload full brass 12 ga  shells?

The only ones I've been able to find are the Magtech ones
http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?p=WX2&i=105820.
But they use Large Pistol primers, rather than shotgun primers. Is this a disadvantage at all?

I just got a reloading manual for the 12 gauge, but not done reading it yet. A lot of information on the web for reloading 12 ga, but not as much on the full brass shotshells.

Are there other full brass shotshells on the market that I just can't find?

Can I ask why you are using full brass hulls?  Then  maybe I can help you a bit more.

Only reason for using them, is because it reminds me of my Grandpa. He used brass shotshells only, and used to reload everything by hand.

I wouldn't be loading too many of these, and would only load them for Upland Bird, and small game loads.

There was a series in Handloader Magazine (Two issues, 266 & 267) that covered it pretty extensively.

Here's part 1 (.pdf).

Apparently there is an older version from 1969, too (.pdf).
