Rem700 short action scope mount base
« on: November 08, 2008, 01:55:48 PM »
I was wondering which you guys use for a rem700 short action scope mount base set up between the 2 piece bases or the 1 piece solid base and what the benefits of each are.  the links are for if I havent been descriptive enough, i know they are different brands.

any input would be very helpful, thanks

-josh

it really depends on what you are doing. if you are building a tac rig then a taper one piece is the only way to go. if you are going light then the talleys ultralights are thw best choice. if you are dead set on weaver styole rings for other reasons the choice is all by what you like

My opinion, thats all.....

I like the idea of a one piece base for the simple reason, I KNOW both rings will be properly aligned with a one piece base, regarless of where the holes are tapped.

I also like the use of the rails, for the simple reason that there are just more options of adjustment/eye relief.

Badger Ordnance and Seekins Precision are tops, Warne is much more affordable too. The first two mentioned are the only ones I know of that manufacture bases for lefties too.

After a few thousand rounds through a couple of rifles of my own, I have had no problems with case hang ups.

Hope this helps.

One or two piece, I like the Leupold style mounts. I most often buy the Millit 2 piece, not sure of the spelling, but they come in  orange packageing. You get rings and mounts for a round $30 Work great!

If you are going to leave the scope on Deadnutz Game Reaper is a light weight but extremely tuff one piece set up.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.
