Looks good. The very first fly I tied looked like something my dog ate and then threw up! ...but I caught a few Rainbows with. Very cool experience.

Yup lol the vice is ugly but it holds my hooks well.

Be careful, its a very addicting hobby, and if you ever do go to one of those shops that Polarbear was describing, WATCH OUT.   You grab one of these and one of those and two of that and oh that looks nice, and the next thing you know $$$$$ on the register.

Practice working up wolly buggers....very easy and I swear will catch anything.....drifted, trolled, stripped.

One of the best I ever tied was a killer on sea run cuts as well as steelhead. It was a black bodied wooly with a wrap or two of chenile (sp?) for a head. It was my "no name" fly. Worked great. I would use a few wraps of lead around the shank to make it sink slowly.

I thought that if I learned how to tie flys I could save some money and make my own.  Thirty years later and I'm still wrong, and spending money on materials.   If only I had purchased apple stock instead of fur and feathers lol.

I did pretty good on Chum flies.   Not so sure on the rest.

It will definitely work on trout and steel.  My first flies looked like that and worked.  Now I'm obsessed with spey and dee flies, major $$$ in just one fly!  But really, simple does the job and allows you to fish better since your not worried about losing the 1 minute fly.

   you need to visit the flyfishingwashington site and go to forum.  it is a very good site.  also taper the body and use some wire or thread or krystal flASH FOR A RIB.    THE WOOLEY BUGGER NEEDS A RED BEAD AT THE HEAD AND IT WOULD BE A DEADLY FLY.   KEEP AT IT.  MIKE W
