Question? / Synthetic Gum Stock
« on: November 11, 2008, 07:08:50 AM »
I have a Ruger M77 that has a heavy walnut stock. I would like to lighten it up with a synthetic stock. I have heard the the aluminum bedding block makes your gun more accurate.

I like them. May not be as pretty as wood but a whole lot more stability. The ruger is kinda an odd ball because of the angled recoil boss, so bedding can be a PITA, but it can be done, which IMO should be done in wood or snythetic.  Really depends on how much you want to spend, low end look at B&C, high end Manners or Mcmillian.

How old is your rifle. The older m77's from the 80's will not fit into any of the aftermarket stocks. I have one that I tried to change over to a synthetic stock, all the manufacturers told me that they didn't make one to fit my m77(1980 model)
