Year opens with two major hurdles for gun prohibitionists

Two major hurdles have just been thrown in the path of gun prohibitionists including yesterday’s announcement of a new line of “Duck Commander” firearms from Mossberg….

I think the pro-gun movement should be very careful about whose cart they hitch their horse to. Many folks believe that people like Ted Nugent have done more damage to the cause because a lot of people view them as extremists who will do or say anything just to grab the spotlight. Personally, Phil Robertson is not the person who I would choose as an advocate for my gun rights. Anyone arguing that adult men should be looking for 15 or 16 year old girls to marry has a screw loose, as far as I am concerned. That's my opinion, and people are free to disagree with it.

You needed to see the episode to understand Phil's intent.  Yes he said it, but not in the manner portrayed in the news.   He was joking with a bunch of his grandkids.

It only took watching one episode of Duck Dynasty for me to figure out that there was nothing about the lives of the stars that I found to be worth watching the show. I'd watch Turtleman or Gatorboys before I'd watch Duck Dynasty. I do, however, admire the Robertson family's ability to create a financial empire around manufacturing duck calls, and then spinning that off into a successful media career, along with all of the attendant merchandise. They are truly shrewd business people.

A brilliant move by Mossberg to capitalize on the popularity of Duck Dynasty. A certain percentage of the guns sold will be sold to individuals purchasing the gun just to spite the network that tried to shut them down. I'm surprised another manufacturer hadn't already done that.  :chuckle:

Duck Dynasty "hunters shooting ducks" is on the corner shelf of every Wal-Mart in America, I think it's one of the best things to happen for hunting in years. This is the type of marketing success that will keep hunting in the mainstream of American living. Don't think for a minute that the popularity of Duck Dynasty isn't eating away at all the anti-hunting groups because they can see the success of the whole concept and the positive advertising that hunting is getting. There are kids all across America watching Duck Dynasting while laying on their Duck Dynasty pillow who will want to go duck hunting someday because of the popularity of the whole Duck Dynasty concept.

Well Done Phil Robertson, we all owe you an "atta boy"!

:yeah: :yeah: I think it was way over due for something like this to happen ...No matter what people think about hunting this was about our rights to speak ! Heck we may have gained a few new hunters from this too .... I grew up with a Mossberg in my hand ...yes they were cheap but I must say I never owned a shotgun that fit me like a Mossberg ... I know I have killed many pheasant and rabbits with it in my younger days ...

I may head to walmart and buy 2 !!!!!  :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle:

It was a bit confusing in the article whether or not  the Mossbergs were being sold under the Duck Commander name or Duck Dynasty or both. I would buy a Duck Commander before a Duck Dynasty any day.  Not because I don't like the show (I've only watched a few episodes) but because I'd rather support them directly than the TV network. my  :twocents:
