C & D battery adapters
« on: January 03, 2014, 10:01:42 PM »
Has anyone tried the C or D adapters in any of your game cameras?  How has the battery life been compared to actual battery size? You insert a AA battery into the adapter so you are essentially using a AA battery in place of normal size battery.

I had no idea these were available. I will be ordering a set of them for the one camera I have that still takes C batteries. Thank you for your post

I have 2 cameras that take D's, so I am going to try them on these 2 cameras.  The D's usually last 6 to 8 weeks, hoping that with rechargable AA's they will last as long on even longer.  If they do I will shave around $50 a year.

I didn't know they were even available.  I have a camera that takes C batteries, and battery life is terrible!  Please give us a report if you try them...

So you're talking about an adapter that takes only one AA battery? If so, I bet your camera will last a much shorter time period than it does with the D batteries.

The AA's just have a lot less capacity, because, obviously, they are much smaller.

Maybe you should try the adapters that take three AA batteries.

I wondered if those adapters swapped one battery for one battery.  That would not be very good, since my camera uses 4 batteries of c size.  Now, if the adaptors at least carried two AA batteries, that would make it worthwhile.  All my electronics that take 8 AA batteries last a long time!

If memory serves me a C and AA are same length but a D is longer.

Just checked my batteries, and the D is about 1/2" longer than the AA,  but the C looks to be about 1/16" SHORTER than the AA.  :dunno:

Probably not at all, being as the - end is usually a spring.  Curiosity made me check.  Same thing that killed the cat!  :chuckle:

You can get lithium in the AA. You can't in the C

Not exactly the same but I have cameras that take C's and I took them apart and wired them up so that I can clip onto the 6V spring top lantern batteries.  My battery life went from 2 weeks to at least 6.  Additionally you can buy the rechargeable lantern batteries to save even more money but they will not last as long.
