G20 outdoor light reccomendations + holster
« on: February 19, 2014, 07:19:04 PM »
I'm digging around for a light and holster combo for the woods Glock 20

I want it pretty bright but it's also got to burn a good long time, it might be an hour or three + walk back to the truck with wolves trailing me.

I use a headlamp now but find a weapon light would be good to have.

All TLR models features Streamlight's proprietary C4 LED technology which puts out an impressive 630 lumens! The light will run for 1.25 hours on 2 CR123A Lithium Batteries (included).    I'd prefer more run time, but the brightness is great!

Have no idea about weapon lights but for a holster I would have one custom made by Adam at gunfighters inc.

Check him out he will make a holster that will fit any light you decide to buy.  His holsters are amazing.  My carry piece is carried in his holster 24/7.

I'd go with whatever light you want and whatever holster you want, with the intention of carrying the light in a shirt/jacket pocket for attachment when you think you might want to have your gun in hand.  They attach quick enough.

I like the Bianchi M12 style holster for outdoor use, as it can be used as a shoulder holster, drop leg, belt, or molle attached holster.  And you can find them cheap as milsurp. They will not accommodate a light.

Another option is Simply Rugged for a semi-custom job. Excellent quality.

leaning towards a safariland ALS paddle w/ belt loop on foliage green

or ALSŪ OMV Tactical Holster w/ Quick Release Leg Strap which would be really nice for wearing on my back pack, on the belly belt, it has molle attachment points.

get a bluff charge from a bear/moose in the middle of the night you'd wish that light was already on  :chuckle:

I like a little red light on a head lamp but it don't reach out too far

I have a Blackhawk serpa for it now but I don't like it after a couple hours it hurts.

that and ice/gunk can get in the finger tab release and hold it shut locking your weapon in the holster.

Perhaps. More likely I'd wish I had a change of shorts, if it was just a bluff.  Otherwise, the G20 would be in my hand, regardless.

My headlamp has a sliding red lense that's pretty quick for more illumination, if I need it.  Petal tactikka or something like that.

There is also the Surefire option in the order of their X300 Ultra offering.

If you're open to a carry option besides a tac. holster consider the Hill People Gear Kit Bag.

x300 is a nice light,  I was looking for more run time though.

I run a SureFire X300 on my Glock 21 SF W/Picatinny rail, the batteries can be changed out real quick. GunFighters Inc will make a Kydex holster to fit any combo. Adam does great, quality holsters.
