DIY Trap's

Any good references out there that have how-to's on how to build most traps per specific fur bearers? I want to start building my own traps but dont really know what to look up, or where to look. Figure some of you on here could point me into the right direction.

Need to first gain the knowledge and how to, then use that to pass on to the girlfriend.  Thanks for any help.

Been looking them up all day lol.

Just made my first purchase toward my trapping supplies.

• Wiebe Pelt Scraper
• Fleshing Tool
• Sleepy Creek #1 Wire Stretcher - 1/2 Dozen
• Freedom Brand Small Hardwood Fleshing Beams - Muskrat
• Standard Fleshing Knives - 12"

Plus Ill get to work next week on assembling a few 6x6x24 colony traps. Seems pretty simple.
I've done similar things for craw-fish traps.

In the next day or two smossy I will be posting up a thread on two types of weasel/mink rat traps. Pics and a walk through style. The one is a variant of the one in the back of your trappers Ed book, and the other a simple weasel box with modified pan setting. The more stuff I build the more of these type threads I plan on doing.

Dont have a trappers ed book But awesome, looking forward to it Doesn't seem as if there's very much detailed information on types of traps via species or walk through's detailed instructions on how to build said traps. Some exists but I think there is be people that would make new trappers like myselfs lifes much easier

My first year as well man. Figured anything I make this year just goes back into building more traps for next year until I get enough where I can't check them all. Have not ran the numbers yet but think you can make these for about 7 a piece.

Should be cheaper then that really. You can buy them from F&T Trading Post for $6 for the 5x5x24 or $7 for the 6x6x24
I found this video earlier with some really cool designs I think Im going to attempt to make this year unless there's some limitations on sizes.

Go to about 3:56 and check that cage out. Really great design for setting along the sides of a embankment.

From somewhere like this place for example. With what I want to make traps with. 1"x 1" x 24"  @ 25 roll In 14 gauge galv. steel for the sturdiness.
You should be able to get around 12 cages without the doors, so like 10 fully built cages with doors at 6"x 6"x 24"

Ok looked at the numbers and 7 was off quite a bit. That's if you have the tools. And if your crafty and know where to get some wood pallets for free or other scrap wood you could get by at just over 2 bucks a trap. The hard part that everyone might not have is a 1 1/2 to 2" drill bit or hole saw. A saw to cut the lumber to make the boxes and some screws and drill. I will put up a thread on this tonight.
