I like white flash cameras because you get non-blurry, color photos at night. The infrared cameras, often if the animal is moving, it will be blurry, and of course the photos will not be in color. As for theft, I've never understood the theory that white flash cameras are easier to see and therefore more likely to get stolen. Where I use my cameras I don't expect anybody would be in there in the dark. Except maybe during hunting season but they're going to see your IR cams as well if they happen to walk right in front of it.
I would recommend getting a couple of both types. You'll find there are times when you want good color night photos and other times you don't care as much and want to take advantage of the benefits of an IR camera. One thing, IR cams are easier on batteries. And, white flash cameras are hard to find. There are only a couple models being made, while IR cams there must be a hundred different models to choose from. If you can afford it, get the new "low glow" or "black flash" models. The night pictures won't be that great, but they won't scare the deer and elk either.
