looking for a coon dog

hello,
 I am looking to buy a coon dog, anything but a plott. i will be in western washington from feb 27 until march 10 i want to do some coon hunting with my son,i would like to tag along with anyone going hunting during this time since my dogs have never been on coon.  i bear hunt with hounds in alaska, and would be happy to return the favor with some bear hunting here, or some lion hunting in nevada, i owned an outfitting business in nevada for 15 years, i know some great places to go cat hunting there. i would love to do what ever kind of hound hunting anyone has to offer while i am down in washington. coon or cat if anyone has a permit they want to let me tag along on. i would also be willing to trade for a moose or a caribou hunt here in alaska this fall. if anyone is interested in that, please give me a call. 907-982-5986

Just curious, how is bear hunting with hounds in AK? What part and what are the regulations? Sorry to get off topic, just have always wondered how the hounding up north is

What if the dogs peeled off on a Grizz track?  That wouldn't go well......

lack of roads, wolves and too many Grizz would keep the hound hunting pretty well nil in AK.

I hunt outside of Palmer AK, in unit 14, the area biologist issues the hound permits, they are not hard to get. certain places have plenty of roads and there are lots of quad trails, if you have an Argo you can go anywhere trails or not. unless it gets to steep. the bears are everywhere. the wolves are no different here than in Canada, they have a fear of man because they are hunted they avoid  us at all cost, i have been hunting here for 5 years with no wolf problems. that being said there is not alot of wolves where i hunt. grizz can be a problem to start with but most dogs break themselves of after a few runs. i shock them off grizz just like they are trash. they smell different than black bear, just like bobcat smell different than lion. I always look for tracks before i turn loose and i use game cameras if I'm hunting off a bait. so i can see what hit the bait last black or grizz. if you go to south east Alaska there are no grizz on some of the islands only black bear and they have tons of logging rds there. there are 2 other guys with hounds that hunt here in my area,  there has been times where i have had to do alot of walking and the brush can be very thick. it is very similar to the terrain of coastal washington. just not as many roads.

Eventually I'd like to head that way, I like living in the midwest but I sure do miss my salmon/steelhead/ocean fishing. Would be nice to live in a place where you could do both run hounds and fish
