The 30" number is how the rancher charges. 30" is just a number to me. I want a mature buck that I like and if I decide to pull the trigger I don't care how wide he stretches the tape. The ranch produced a 183" gross buck for my sons best friend last year that was only 26" wide. Way to ruin a 13 year old for his first buck. I have limited time as we own three business that require a lot of my time.

 The rancher wants $2500 over 30" and $1500 under.

This seems very reasonable to me. If there are 30+ bucks being taken on a regular basis he could probably get more than $2500 if he really tried.
