Well I shoot an 835 and my wife shoots a 500 both are Mossberg and both 12ga. Great guns both of them. Don't think that I spent that much for both guns but That's ok.Chokes on the other hand are different, I use the factory choke tube in mine but the wife's has a Carlsons choke tube. There are a number of different choke tubes just find the one that shoots the best with the shells.

Mossbergs are great turkey guns. I think you'll be happy. I have an 835 with the 20 inch barrel and it is a really good turkey gun. Mine patterned well with the factory choke, but even better with a Tru Glo strut stopper extreme (SSX).

Not sure what features are on the model you're looking at, but there are many 835s available in the $250-400 range.
Good luck!

I would recommend a remington 870. i use the same one for duck and trukey i just switch chokes... i use the super full turkey choke.
Remington cost about $300 less than the mossberg

I have the Mossberg 835 as does one of my hunting partners. We both like them and have had no issues. He hunts turkey, ducks and geese with a simple choke change. Mine came with 4 factory chokes but for turkey I use a Carlson choke made for HM loads. If I were to buy another one it would be the 835 pump with the two barrels so I could shoot slugs as the shot barrel us over bored and you can not shoot slugs safely in it but I think that is why it patterns so well consistently!

$600 for a Mossberg turkey gun is ridiculous to me. I have a top of the line Rem 870 turkey gun that I paid less for, that I would say is considerably better

Like others have said that sounds spendy. My Remington 870 with a turkey choke hasn't failed me yet and was a lot cheaper. If your from Yakima area go look at bimart.

Spend the money if you like but there are less expensive lead delivery systems. Dead is dead, no matter how the lead got there.
