I suspect a tom at the upper end of mountain lions' weight class (like 200-220 lbs) would make short work of a loan wolf. That's a whole lot of muscle, claws, and bite force for canines to deal with.

Mountain lions were here before wolf extirpation and will be after their return.

200 to 220? I'll say upper end. Probably count cats in that weight class on the fingers of one hand.
