First AR Build done(finished)
« on: March 14, 2014, 09:35:56 PM »
Just got done my first AR build, except for the scope and rings which I'm waiting to recieve in the mail.

It's 556
18in Rainier Arms mountain barrel 1:7 with bcm brake
Rainer Arms low pro gas block
Rainer Arms forged upper and lower
Raptor Chargin handle
Ergo large ambi pistol grip and 7 position Ergo stock
Daniel Defense Lower parts kit
Seekins 15in free floating keymod forearm

Added
Vortex diamondback 4-12x40 scope(on order from Elknut!), with RRA rings
Magpul Bad lever
KNS anti rotational pins
Phase 5 winter trigger guard

It's going to be a coyote hunting machine, it was my news resolution to build one. Next one will be a standard M4 or M16 mil spec one

Also I will say Rainier Arms has outstanding customer service, on my monthly trips there they have answered countless questions that were probally pretty dumb, they showed me how stuff looked on other guns and suggested multiple things. Also I had them put the barrel on and pin the gas block since I don't have the tools, space or knowledge. When I went to pick it up and my lower didn't match up right, maybe 1/8mm off, they upgraded my upper free of charge and swapped it out in under 30 minutes at 5pm on a Friday.

What do y'all think?

Looks great but you're gonna hate that brake eventually.

I like it better than the other brakes I tried. Wasn't a fan of the seekins, fortis or RAC.

Well I just couldn't take it, scope won't be here for another day or two and the rings haven't even shipped yet. So I took it to the range anyways atleast to see how she functions. Functions great! And shoots good even without sights. 39 of 40 on paper at 25 yards. Everything is left because that light was sitting on the sandbag causing it to sit at an angle.

Move the light to the other side, so the button on the light is near your thumb.  (or are you left-handed?)  Is that your arm in the zombie-dog's mouth?   :chuckle:

Nice looking rifle. Now you'll have to build an upper in 6.8mm SPC II, so you can hunt larger than yotes.

Also, when you move it to the other side, don't mount it on the side rail, mount it on the top, extending out to the left. When mounted like that, you don't even have to move your hand from the fore grip to turn it on or off, you just move your thumb over less than an inch and click the button...

I suppose you could mount in on the side, but just have it set so the flashlight in above the barrel vs. below the barrel.

BRD is a nasty pathogen...  My first build is my 6.8spc hunting rifle.  Just finished my second rather standard 5.56.  Already planning my next one.  I'm thinking a supressed 300 blackout pistol with a Sig wrist brace...   :mgun:

Already started on my next build. It will look like this. Vietnam era M16, also the same one the coast guard still uses minus the dark earth colors. It's going to take awhile because I'm going to buy most everything used and trade for stuff.

After this I want a 6.5 or 6.8
