Bowtech assassin crack in limb

Can anyone tell me if it's possible that this limb is still ok to shoot?  The crack is small and goes right through and I could pull that small piece off.   This wasn't dry fired as far as I know, I am the 2nd owner so I do not have the lifetime warranty.  I just noticed the crack and have shot it 30 times with no issues since I saw the crack.   Have you seen this before?  I also was curious if you knew why they have the slot at the end of the limb instead of having it closed off completely?  Thanks for all your help.

You can get new limbs or a new bow, whichever suites ya but I would hold off on the shooting.

Limbs arnt much compared to a new bow. If you need any help let me know they have been a good company to me with all the dealing ive had.

Looks like someone tightened the limb down too tightly to me.  Myself I'd get out a pair of tweezers and pull it out of there so it doesn't rattle.  Then go back to shooting.  Not going to do a dang thing to the bow!  Those guys who are screaming have never shot a split limb bow, I guess.  I've never understood why they keep that little tab on the limb in the first place.  Only thing it does is keep the limb is place while they assemble it at the factory.

It's a non-issue as far as function but if it bothers you send it in.  You never know what Bowtech will do.  They might give you a screaming deal on a replacement set of limbs.

I'd be happy to shoot a thousand arrows through it if that would make you feel better...might take me a month

That's why I didn't buy a mathews.  Just messin.  That is just incredible. Was anyone hurt when that happend? 
I see what Radsav is saying it's just in a strange spot past the screw on the other side so it seems strange to me but I'm gonna see what bowtech can do for me and go from there.  Maybe my local dealer can get a better feel for what could happen by seeing it in person also. Thanks for all your help.

Never say never.

I've seen a lot of thin limb Mathews that look like that!  But, not a one of those had a little crack behind the limb bolt right along side the intentional relief cut.

You couldn't pay me to shoot a thin limb Mathews!  What was their marketing campaign?  Something like, "Thin is In...the trash"

You can see a witness mark in the same spot on the other side where the riser was in contact with the limb there too.  I guess you could crank it down really, really, really hard again.  Do it better than the last guy...this time use an impact hammer! Then both sides should break off and it won't look so scary

Bowtech, as with all bow manufacturers, does not warranty (back) failures do to abuse.  While this is not a real failure it is the result of over tightening the limb bolt.  So I will be very surprised if they cover it as a second owner warranty.  As I expect would be the case with any bow company.  I would, however, be surprised if they don't offer you some type of discounted solution.  Just as they do with second owners who dry fire or derail their bow.

Sometimes if you go to an authorized dealer the dealer can call and request a warranty replacement set of limbs without returning the bow.  If you can get a dealer to do this for you there might be a chance of full replacement without cost.  Couldn't hurt to try

If it were me?  I'd try to forget it was there and just enjoy shooting it!

  ive worked with a few of the major companies on this kind of thing. So far bowtech has been really good about taken care of the customer. Ive had more issues with the other brands getting true warranty work done then bowtech dealing with things that might not be or arnt warrent issues.

I brought the bow into my local bowtech dealer And he looked to over and said because of where it is that it won't be a big deal. He wasn't afraid to shoot it.

Sounds like you need to shoot it, or do what I'd do and use it as an excuse for a new bow
