had my bow drawn and aiming at him before he got to that point, I would assume he could here him coming since there's snow on the ground

Had to know he was coming,  But with the way he had to point his arrow to the sky to draw I expect too much poundage to draw and hold.  He might not be able to brag about killing that bull, but I bet everyone is impressed with how fast and powerful his bow is ;)

don't sit in the middle of the opening?

I guess he was lined up for two shooting lanes.  But yeah, same thought that crossed my mind.

I had a guy catch me as I came out of the woods in the dark one year in the Strawberry Wilderness.  He wants my advise on how to kill a bear he had seen three times walking the same trail.  The next morning we get out way before light so he can show me the spot.  I find a good ambush and say, "If it were me I'd sit on the trail right here.  If you shoot him and need help sit on top of this bald knob at noon and I'll glass to see if you are there"  Noon comes and he's waving from the knob!

By buddy Bone and I meet up with him and he tells us he shot the bear but can't find any blood.  I ask the how far, what angle, how did he react questions.  He says, "Well I was sitting on the trail where you said and he's walking right at me.  At three to five yards I figure he is going to walk right over me so I shot him head on."  Bone and I start laughing and the guy asks, "What is so funny?"  I say, "When I told you to sit on the trail I didn't mean SIT ON THE TRAIL" :chuckle:

Big bear, good shot, dead 40 yards away, happy hunter.

He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

TROPHYHUNT and I had a simular the.g happen except we weren't actually huntn elk, we were scouting, well he called a bull in to the same Bush we were hiding in, it was so awesome, literally two feet away, you could see the pupils in his eyes..... I have also been close enough to a bear where he was sniffing my boot, talk about a rush, he is now mounted in my living room

That's funny.

6 or 7 years ago I was hunting and had a non hunting bud along... good friend... gave him the Hoochie Mama... cause he didn't know anything about calling... we got setup on this bugler and Chris gave some calls on the HM.... well, this bull comes in and gets through my lane before I can get a shot... he never stops, walks slowly in an arc around me and ends up a little closer to Chris than that bull was to that guy. I was standing with my bow ready to draw (shooting a longbow)... looking at the situation from this camera mans view... except  the bull was broadside to me... but he was literally less than 1.5 yards from Chris... Chris was down on one knee and had his head down, all he could see weere the bulls hooves... I was trying with all my might to not laugh outloud... I so wish Id had a camera at the ready... The bull would look at me, standing in plain sight, then look down at Chris "suddenly"... then slowly turn head to look at me, then snap his head back to look at Chris... raghorn 5 point, not a nice bull like the one in the vid...

Anyhow, I could not shoot with Chris so close, just didn't seem right... bout a 16 yard shot though 999/1000 times Im sure it would have went fine, but not worth the risk.

The bull slowly turned and circled back around and never gave me a shot....
