I have often thought about the leaving the head on the bird law.  Say you shoot a bearded hen,  leave the head attached and cut off the beard and legs.  There is no way of proving that the beard came from that bird.  There is nothing that says you must keep the beard attached.  What do you suppose would happen?
It's not always as it seems

After the bird is dead I tag him immediately. At camp I process the meat and start cooling it I always bring home the carcass as proof but as the regs read I guess I'm guilty but I really don't want to take a chance on spoiling the meat. Meat goes in the freezer of my 5th wheel and carcass goes in a bag in the storage compartment.

So you process the meat and then keep the carcass separately?

Yep carcass goes in a bag in the storage compartment in the trailer. Have never been checked during turkey hunting thankfully I guess. The last 2 elk I got I never got checked aswell and never kept proof of sex on the body either. Guess when I get checked we will see what happens.

My first bird had no head. Just a stub I guess you could call it. It was my cleanest kill to date. What then?
