Hancock Tree Farm - White River property
« on: March 25, 2014, 11:19:58 PM »
I'm confused about this property. :-) I'm fairly new to WA state. I know it is fee access only. I know you can hunt deer and bear. Can you hunt elk here under general season or is this under a special draw for unit 653? What's confusing me is that Hancock is closing the area during the elk season according to their website. Any help would be appreciated.

The majority of the unit is in the White River gmu (653). It is permit draw only for elk, no general season. I believe there is a small portion that extends into 454 (I believe) to the northwest and another very small section that extends into 652 (mashel).

The Snoqualmie tree farm is in unit 460 and offers a general elk hunt. One thing you should know going in is the vast majority of the elk move down into the valley before the season.  The area does hold good deer and bear numbers and is probably a much better choice for you. Snoqualmie also offers several lakes that offer good fishing.

Didn't the muckalshot (I'm sure that's spelled wrong) buy the Hancock property.  Will they be giving out access permits?
