let him go

A fairly decent fellow, but not quite big enough for what I wanted in a black one.  Should I have busted him?

Great looking pics. :tup:  I think you made a good choice.  Looking at those ears, he looks a little small.

The pics look good, but I think you made the right choice.  But when all is said and done it depends on how you feel about it.  There are bigger ones out there.

Cool spot Bone, great pics. Did you call him in?

Man, them small ones make for easy packing and they taste great. Depending on how busy I was, am I going bear hunting again, is the freezer full, etc... I might or might not have shot it.

knowing what i know(a little bit) about judging the size of bears, and just getting done watching shockey and  greg ritz kill a monster bear, i say let him walk.
based on what billy said:

i guess it would have been up to you, but he looks to me to be a little guy.

It is early enough to pass a bear that size. Give it a while and things change, but with the work involved with a bruin I would just as soon shoot big un's. besides how are you gonna explain a little pecker bone on the mantle....go big.

If she'd been in bow range, she would have gotten a stinger right in the boiling room.  Other than that, I've shot enough of them, I didn't need this one.  If she'd had some color to her, I'd probably have busted her.  Shes a pretty good sized bear for a female, which I'm pretty sure it was, but then again not big enough for what I want.  I'm really lookinf for a big boar to have as a full mount.
