I have an old style vanguard in 300 Weatherby. It will shoot 1 inch groups and probably better with the right shooter behind it. They are NOT for the recoil sensitive shooter. My 25'06s are fun to shoot and my 300 is not, but it simply puts animals down. I have harvested many deer and bear with this gun using 180gr. nosler partitions and barnes TSX, and I have only had 1 animal take a single step after being shot. All the energy and velocity just puts the animals down. The TSX's also cause very little meat damage as they don't fragment.
