Remington Arms Company, has just announced a voluntary
recall of Model 700 and Model Seven rifles with X-Mark Pro triggers, manufactured from May 1, 2006 to April 9, 2014.

Interesting, hasn't Remington always vehemently denied accusations of their model 700s having accidental discharge problems?  I own a few myself.

This appears to be a different issue.  I don't think the misfire allegations that MSNBC did the story on and all the controversy around it has to do with the X-Mark Pro Trigger, I think it was earlier system.  Ironically I think Remington went to the X Mark due to the controversy and MSCBC story and now there is a recall on the "newer" system.  huh

I wonder if the modifications (Wyatt mag box, and action bedding) I have made to my 700 will affect the recall repairs?
Im going to give them a call monday am and see.

Why cant Rem. have this issue taken care of with the aid of local gunsmiths.Everyone sending their rifles in to Rem. to have them look at them    seems quite excessive to me.Think of all the PAPER work.

Many of the problems with the triggers were caused by people adjusting on them that didn't really know what they were doing and, unfortunately, Remington was the one that got blamed.

       I put a Timney trigger with safety on my Mod.700 a # of years ago.I have had the rifle since 1977 and its a reliable and tough action.I shot the first barrel out after 15 years and replaced the stock with a Carlson about '82 after finding out that wood is about as durable and stable as a noodle in rough terrain and weather.For those who adjusted their triggers to less than 3#'s they get what they deserved by not listening to Remington.How many of those same characters adjusted their car brakes to not work and then sued Ford,GM or whoever?I asked my G.smith what was a good way to adjust that trigger as I was getting some creep in it after many rounds and he said,replace it.It could be adjusted to be lighter than recommended and have less creep as it wore down the sear but he pointed out the fact that if you pulled the trigger while on safety it wouldn't fire but when you took it off of safety without pushing the trigger forward,it would fire without pulling the trigger.I tried adjusting it,just to see and sure enough it did fire. I have never pulled the trigger of any firearm to see if it would fire unless it was unloaded and pointed in a safe direction,too.
