State Representative JT Wilcox told my wife that the Discover pass thing is dead right now but will be brought up again during the next session.  They are trying to kill it all together.  It sounds like it is do doing what it was intended for and they are looking to scrap the DP.   :dunno:

Now that is good news; I hope it's true. The DP has been a failure
from day one to present and you who buy it or say you will then crow so proudly about how great it will be to have the woods to yourselves are nothing more to my eyes than co-conspirators with the oppressors.

Discover Pass price?

From the Discover Pass website:

Quote
The cost to users is $30 for the annual Discover Pass or $10 for a one-day pass. Transaction and dealer fees may apply.

It's $30 if you buy it directly from State Parks (in person).

If you buy it from a license dealer, or online, then yes, extra fees are added. But regardless, the cost of the pass itself is $30.

I was just looking to add up my donation  (looks to be about $245 ) for the  year and found that. Can't think of a state park close enough to justify driving to it over $5.

So we have a choice. Spend $35 for a Discover pass or $150 to $250 for a Weyerhaeuser pass.  :o

Hmm... I wonder which option provides the most land to hunt for the least money?

I think the reason for not getting ticketed is that they don't have the money to hire or pay enforcement officers.  You buy the pass, and it gives them more money to pay people to hassle you!  :twocents:
DNR has about 12 LEOs which is the most they've ever had. However DNR also has bout 80 people with limited citation authority who aren't LEOs but can write tickets for things like parking, dog off leash, illegal atv use, and Discover Pass violations.

One thing I have noticed is the state doesn't seem to require me to have a DP for my boat. Maybe that's next.  Hahaha.

If you have  noticed the boat ramp signs say that the DP is required to launch, but at the bottom of the sign in small print it says that a WDFW pass is acceptable. Makes me think that in the near future, someone with a paintbrush and a bucket of paint is going to take away the free pass. Just my guess.
