Are you folks practicing?  It's only three weeks till the contest window opens :)...  Really hoping for a bunch of contestants for this first ever Elknut Elk Calling contest.  It's looking like there will be some very good prizes for the top callers.

A mere two weeks away from the first annual Elknut Elk Calling Contest.  Hope everyone is practicing  8)   Trips to Hawaii, new quads, musky trips to the land of 1000 lakes, free guided elk hunts in the wilds of Montana... well, those aren't any of the prizes but I'm pretty sure there are some good ones worth trying for  :D  RJ

Sounds like a lot of fun.  Its a good thing I'm better at killing elk than calling elk :chuckle:

Probably not specific, individual feedback for the contest itself.  There are four judges and they will all rate each clip based on the established point system.  Once the points are tallied, I'll release the final results.  That said, there are always some top tier guys that are willing to receive a hunter's elk sound recording, and, provide feedback on ways to improve.  Best of luck in the contest!  Should be a lotta fun.  RJ

Need the file converted to MP3/MP4 before submission please.  I did a quick search and there are quite a few free converters one can download (if in fact, you need to convert a VID to one of the MP formats).

Sounds like may not get a lot of entries with having to convert files. Sometimes this can be difficult if you don't know how. Just saying.

thats what i was looking into as well i mean if i can turn my lights off in my house with my cell phone i should be able to figure out how to convert a file, i was suggesting a video maybe to show proof of the contestent doing it all by themselves, also might be comedic watching people switch out mouth reeds and all sorts of fumbling around for that one min.  just my  :twocents:

Just sound clips are acceptable folks. Don't want to see your ugly mugs anyway; that could possibly lower your score ;). The prizes that are being donated are "well worth" the time/effort to figure out how to record and submit a sound clip, trust me.

Allrighty folks, the prizes for the first ever, Elknut Elk Calling Contest have pretty much been locked and cocked  ;)  Vortex Optics, Elk Mountain Gear Slip System (with cover of choice), Wyoming Saw, Clip Shot, Glacier Country Hunting Calls, Wapiti River Outdoors Calls/Bugle Tubes, and perhaps a few more items.

The contest window opens this Monday, 19 May.  If you have any questions on the contest rules/procedures, send me a note.

If we don't have an Elknut forum tag, can we include our Hunt WA tag?

You don't have to be an Elknut forum member to participate in the contest.  However, that is where the results will be posted after the entry window closes  ;)
