jerky
« on: April 13, 2014, 06:07:13 PM »
I have a bunch of deer burger and i was wondering if i can use it to make jerky or do i need to use something with no fat.
I am going to dehydrate it because i don't know a good way to use my little chief to make it and if anyone has any good recipe's or tips that they feel like sharing that would help to

"One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted...If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job."

I've done it many times.  Turns out great still. As for a recipe I use one I found on here almost exclusively.  If I remember correctly it's 1/4 soy sauce, 1/4 Worcestershire sauce,  brown sugar(don't remember how much) and pepper to suit your taste.  The recipe is on here somewhere though.

It makes great jerky........do you have a jerky gun to shoot it thru? They work great if it's not a real cheap one.
