Your best bet is to buy a rez permit, get a map of the ffth rez land in the lower valley, and burn a few tanks of gas.
Another thing to do is ask any elders you know if they hunted. That's how I got most of my chukar hunting info. My late neighbor had lived in the upper valley all of the 90 years he was alive. His dad was here since the 1800's. They kept all records of bird hunting in the upper valley and I was handed down their Journals. I will never give any of that information out.
The main reason why I will not give further information is because there is becoming less and less spots to go to. Back in the 60's when my dad was a teen, he used to have to go out to highland everyday as west valley didn't have a school district. it used to be part of highland. Any way, he used to hunt every day bird season was open while going home. Imagine hardly any structures from highland high school to 40th avenue. It used to be some damn good hunting. Needless to say as west valley started becoming a boom, land started to disappear. Same with south of Athanum Rd.. That area from the gap to the west used to be damn good hunting. Now, almost all of it is Either Yakama Land, or posted. I only have permission for 1000 acres out there now as I have connections being my grandpa and great grandpa farmed a huge portion of west valley. Same with cowiche as I have a few connections.
What I am trying to say is do some research and scouting. I am young and only hunt with other people who grew up hunting this valley. which is my dad, and other folks that age. Good Spots don't just get handed to you. you have to earn them.
