Rattlesnakes

ok i am jealous as you know what, been wanting to go snake huntn for i dont know how long and bang someone done beat me to them cool dude, how did they taste? i want to catch them alive, seems like it would be fun, if you dont have a snake huntn partner let me know, i will go with ya, i will even drive, seriosly if you need a partner pm me

I don't want to kill out this honey hole but looking into a few other areas to try. I'll shoot you a pm jackmaster.

I'm going to try and tan them with glycerin and rubbing alcohol.  They are in the freezer at the moment.

Not as productive as your day but i managed to find one out tonight. Was my first night out.hope the rest are as good or better. Also first outing with the Crossman fury

You dont have to tell me your secret hidey holes, but can you tell me how you found them?  I live near pullman washington and i know we have rattlesnakes but i can not for the life of me find them.  What time of the day do you go out?  How do you search?  And if you dont see any, what tactics do you change?

You guys ain't right. If there's anything in the world I hate and detest it is snakes of any sort. And you go out looking for the things!! Makes me feel sick just seeing them pictures.

My honey hole is named Arizona. It's one honey hole I'm happy to share. Come on down and kill them all!

I get alot of mine within an hour or two after dark. They like to lay in the roads near areas with sagebrush and oak trees . Just spot um in your headlights.

They loooooovvvveeeee water.  Seriously, I see 95% of the snakes 50 yds or less from water.  Look for irrigated fields, shaded areas if during the day, and shaded areas, rock roads, and just off roads at night.

This may sound realllllly stupid and if it does I'll gladly apologize now but what I'd like to know is, WTF do you do with these damn things after you find em, kill em, pet em, kiss em, or whatever? 

Since, or maybe I should say thankfully, in the PNW the rattlers don't get near the size they do in the SE states so I can't imagine there is much of a market for the skins not to mention the PNW doesn't have nearly as many as you find in the SE states.

I view snakes the same as I do spiders and I'm no particular fan of either, especially, the poisonous ones so I'm pretty much of the belief that the only good rattlesnake is dead rattlesnake so more power to yah for hunting these things but I am curious what you all do with them once you find them.

I used to hunt deer in the Bickleton area when I was in high school and I encountered rattlesnakes only two times.  The first time was when I walked up on two rather small ones laying on a big flat basalt rock and the other was a big mother, easily the biggest rattlesnake I'd ever seen in the wild, that was wrapped around the base of some sagebrush.  Both times they alerted me of their presence but being that is was early Oct. they didn't make nearly as much noise as they do during warmer months.  Both times I gladly gave them their space and spent the rest of the weekend CLOSELY watching where I put EVERY step.  lol

I have cut off the rattle on a few and kept it. They are made of keratin like your finger nails and won't last forever. Others will skin the snake, dredge in bread crumbs or flour, and fry it up in garlic and butter. I've heard its delicious when done right but I have an aversion to certain forms of rotentia and belly crawlers. Just my preference.
