Epic finish on a 2014 halibut season
« on: May 26, 2014, 08:23:28 PM »
Couldn't have asked for a better finish for the 2014 halibut season. Last weekend we landed a 62 and a 68.5 lb halibut. We turned loose 45 halibut on Saturday alone to get the limits of butts we wanted to keep. The ling fishing was stellar once again. We landed 1 ling that swallowed a 10 lb ling on the way up. We also landed a couple of nice kings jigging for lings in 400' of water. The water was beautiful averaging 28-30 knts on the ocean and burning 8.5 gph per engine for a 50 minute run. Very little fuel consuption for a 22,000lb boat. Everyone went home very happy. We had some first time fisherman yes first time ever. They have never had such a good time.

Boy that ocean looks sweet! I sure missed that fishery this year, Westport filled the freezer just the same but I miss the scenery and bottom fishing. Not the cluster of a marina though! Hope they get a handle on things
