Birch bay? Update
« on: April 26, 2014, 07:01:42 PM »
I'll be going camping in a few weeks with the in-laws. I haven't spent any time up north and was curious if a guy and his kids could catch any fish around Birch Bay area?

Any fishing from the beach or maybe a freshwater place to hit up?

Any info would be awsome just wondering if we should bring the poles?

Thanks folks!!!

Tag, in the same boat so to speak, going to Lynden next weekend to camp at the kao with some friends may hit up the clamming up there if its still open but planning on bringing a rod..we'll be camping up there a few times this summer so any good lakes near by would be helpful!

Lake Terrell just North of Ferndale has largemouth bass, big rainbow and cutthroat trout as well as channel catfish to over 20 pounds. A couple of docks for shore fishermen, but best fished from a boat.

Lake Padden just South of Bellingham is completely surrounded by a park and offers great bank fishing for rainbow trout and the occasional cutthroat trout, as well.

When are you going? Lots of crab in birch bay...leave the poles at home and bring the boat and crab rings.  You won't regret it.

Took the whole family to Birch Bay last summer and had a blast. We were catching tons of sole, dover, greenling and some perch. My youngest was reeling in a fish and had a shark bite it in half. It didn't take long and we were catching them in light tackle.
