Best Eastern WA fishing opportunities in July?
« on: June 22, 2014, 06:02:30 AM »
Howdy,
I have a friend flying in for a vacation in mid-July and has expressed some interest in doing some fishing while he is here.  Any recommendations as to where I should point him would be greatly appreciated.

It kind of depends on what he wants to fish for and where he will be in eastern Washington. I'm assuming he doesn't have a boat. Moses Lake and Potholes are great for bass. Blue, Park, Warden, and Quincy lakes are good for trout. These are just a few that are in Grant Co. If he is into salmon, the Columbia opens on the 1st of July.

I'm sure you will get some good info if you are more specific on location. Good luck

Rocky Ford is a destination for many hardcore trout flyfishermen.

If he doesn't want to spend a bunch of money, I talked with one of the old timers who says they have some private ponds they let people fish for 50 dollars a day.  I'm guessing they'd accommodate the poles and all that, if you want info, I'll ask him if I see him on Wednesday at Potholes.  I think he was saying it's mostly for bass fishing but do catch other panfish as bycatch.

Thanks guys.  Great stuff.  It will give him some destinations to research.  He's planning on spending a week fishing and sight seeing.

Is the July fishing any good on Lake Roosevelt?

Yes. Banks, Potholes for walleye and perch also. Even the dock fishing at Mardon should be excellent for crappies and perch.

Should be able to get into some walleye pretty easy almost anywhere on the reservoir.
