Pointer Training Books (Specifically GSP)

My wife and I are picking up our German Shorthair Pointer in about a month and I have not found a good training book. I picked up one on Amazon specifically for GSP's but it was not written very well. Does anyone have any good recommendations on literature (or anything else helpful) for training a pointer puppy? Thanks for the help!

Good luck finding anything GSP specific. Pointing dog training is pointing dog training however. Here are some good ones...

The 'Perfect Start Perfect Finish' videos are supposed to be very good as well.

I believe NAVHDA has one out that is good as well if a more versatile dog is your aim. Actually if I were you I'd look into seeing if anyone affiliated with that organization has training days you can attend.

Whatever you do don't bother with Richard Wolters book Gun Dog. No professional pointing dog trainer worth their salt would ever recommend it and a lot of what is written is either wrong or very outdated.

I have worked my way through Point! and also How to Help Gun Dogs Train Themselves. Great choices! It's great seeing two similar but slightly different means of dog training, and nice to be able to pick and choose one method of a certain training point over another. Joan Bailey also recommends a few books to supplement her initial training/conditioning that I will definitely look into. Thanks again for the great recommendations!
